Some research suggests that people often eat salad as a main course and then reward themselves for eating healthily by having a bigger dessert thus consuming more calories than they otherwise would. Calorie swaps are potentially useful, but make sure the numbers add up. Skipping a few rounds of toast at breakfast could be useful but won’t compensate for two beers in the evening!
